This is an old revision of the document!

This wiki contains information about my profession and random topics of interest. First, a bit of background about myself. I am a research scientist and teacher at McMaster University. Early on, in college, I took courses in physical and biological sciences. Exposure to Bio-related courses in university got me excited about Molecular Biology. The Erwin Schrodinger's book 'What is life?' motivated me to seek a career in biology. But it was Mark Ptashne's book 'A Genetic Switch' that persuaded me to further my education in areas related to gene expression and regulatory networks. Together, these early readings influenced my Ph.D. thesis work and subsequent research activities.
;#; geneticswitch.jpg whatislife.jpg ;#; My current interests lie in developmental and evolutionary genetics, neurobiology, animal behavior, reproductive system development, and aging. I have the knowledge of two leading invertebrate animal models, fruit fly D. melanogaster and nematodes C. elegans and C. briggsae. ;#; fly-drosophila.jpg ;#; In addition to doing research and training students, I teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to my discipline. See this page and this for more details.
